Raiders, Darren Waller agree to multi-year extension

It looks like one

of the breakout stars for the Raiders this season won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Tight end Darren Waller has agreed to a multi-year extension with Oakland through the 2023 season, the team announced Wednesday.

Waller, who was to be a restricted free agent this offseason, is expected to make around $9 million a year with the new deal, according to NFL Network.

The 27-year-old is in the midst of a career year this season with 37 catches and 359 yards. In his previous three seasons with Oakland and Baltimore, the Georgia Tech product had 18 catches, 178 yards and two touchdowns combined.

Waller was originally drafted by the Ravens in the sixth round (204th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. Oakland signed him off of Baltimore's practice squad in Week 13 of 2018.

The Raiders (3-2) head north to take on the Packers (5-1) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
