Drazen Petrovic would have turned 49 years old today

Drazen Petrovic, who died in a car crash in June of 1993 at the height of his basketball career, would have turned 49 years old today.

He only played five NBA seasons, but Petrovic left his mark and is remembered fondly by some of the '90s best players.

Through five seasons, Petrovic, originally from Crotia, averaged 15.4 points, 2.4 assists and 2.3 rebounds, including 50.6 percent

shooting from the field and 43.7 percent from the 3-point line. Look at his per 36 minutes numbers, though, and you find averages of 20.9 points, 3.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds.

Petrovic didn't receive big minutes early in his NBA career with the Portland Trail Blazers. Given opportunity with the Nets, he flourished and put up 19.5 points per game and maintained shooting numbers of 51.1 percent from the field and 43.7 percent from the field over three years.

Players such as Reggie Miller and Clyde Drexler lauded Petrovic's competitive spirit and shooting ability. Here's a look at both through video of the late Petrovic.
