Phoenix Suns show interest in trade for Pau Gasol

Because the Lakers are on the decline and Pau Gasol's production has played a part in that at times, his name will remain in trade rumors until the Feb. 20 deadline has passed.

The Phoenix Suns are the latest team connected to a possible trade for Gasol, as they have expressed interest in the big man, according to an report.

Previously, the Lakers had discussions with the Cleveland Cavaliers about a trade for Gasol that would send Andrew Bynum and his partially-guaranteed deal to the Lakers, the report says. Of course, that deal fell apart and the C

avaliers eventually shipped Bynum to the Chicago Bulls in exchange Luol Deng. The Bulls immediately waived Bynum to save salary cap space.

One way the Suns could get Gasol is to deal Emeka Okafor, who was picked up in the Marcin Gortat trade, even though their salaries don't exactly match up.

The Suns have salary cap space, however, and they also have draft picks, which is what the Lakers covet at the moment. Phoenix's willingness to add pieces in the trade other than Okafor is yet to be seen, according to the report.
