Celtics honor fallen firefighters

The city, submerged in mourning after two area firefighters lost their lives fighting a massive blaze on the city' Beacon Street on Wedneday, needed the Celtics' support on Sunday night.

Boston Fire Department's Lieutenant Edward J. Walsh Jr., 43, and Firefighter Michael R. Kennedy, 33, tragically perished trying to save the lives of others.

The least that the Celtics could do was to recognize their heroic effort.

When the team took to the floor prior to Sunday's home game against the Bulls, they wore black shirts with Boston Fire Company's logo imprinted on the front.

Boston's coaching staff took part as well.

Both were small, transitory gestures, but they were powerful in their resonation.
